Gymnocalycium brunchii ssp pawlowski GN 96-751/3143

MAY 2017

Look at the size of the bud to the size of the plant. Ridiculous!

Gymnocalycium mucidum

New arrival - May 2017

Not sure about the name on this. Mr Charles says it is a name of "uncertain application" and that it is potentially to do with G glaucum This plant obviously isn't!

Gymnocalycium prochazkianum VS141

May 2017 - new arrival

Also know as G mostii ssp valnicekianum.

From Argentina.

Gymnocalycium gaponii B42

New arrival - May 2017

Lumped in with G erinaceum, but I have to say looks nothing like any other erinaceum I have got.

Gymnocalycium nataliae STO 868

May 2017 - new arrival

Considered to be a variation of G berchtii.

From Argentina

Gymnocalycium platygonum

May 2017 - new arrival

Not a recognised name - but related to G bodenbenderianum.

This is a great little squat plant with spins tight to body.

Gymnocalicium spegazzinii v cardenasianum

AUGUST 2015

I do like a dark spined dark skinned spegazzinii. I have had this one since 2011 and this is the first year it has flowered. I find it slow and this year whilst it has flowered it seems to be struggling to grow spines.

Gymnocalycium mostii v genserii KP336

A young Gymnocalycium mostii v genserii KP336 with its first flower. Very similar to valnicekianum but look at the green on the flower.

Gynmocalycium valnicekianum

Nice flower from G valnicekianum . Is it a sub species of mostii? Let's put a mostii up on the next post and have a look!

Gymnocalycium saglionis

Some nice flowers on the big old guy this year and they actually managed to find a way to open through the spines. Well over 30 years old now.

Gymnocalycium quehlianum

Here is an old G quehlianum. Grown from seed over 30 years ago.

Gymnocalycium uruguayense

Gymnocalycium uruguayense is good because it comes from Uruguay. This is a small plant that I grew from an offset.

I would like to get hold of the pink flowering version but have not seen one for sale. Let me know if you know where to get one!

Gymnocalycium weissianum

MAY 2017

JUNE 2015

A good crop of flowers on Gymnocalycium weissianum this year. May be lumped in with hossei.

Gymnocalycium doppianum

Gymnocalycium doppianum is a form of G andreae. Small flowers, very yellow, likes to clump

Gymnocalycium erinaceum R726b

Large silky flowers and the pink in the centre is so vibrant it makes the flower look like it is illuminated from within.

This plant has a nice blue green body - I have seen pictures of other that are more plane green.

Gymnocalycium gibbosum v fenellii

Gymnocalycium gibbosum v fenellii is another one that has gone much browner this year.

Good large flower.

And here is the fruit

Gymnocalycium gibbosum ssp radekii JPR70/157

This plant has gone completely brown since last year when it was green and glossy.

June 2015 update - here are the flowers.

Gymnocalycium altagraciense P119

Last year I said that I though G altagraciense was rather boring and it only had one flower. Look at it now. Not so boring!

From Argentina and not discovered until 1988 because it hides when not in flower.

Can be called G amerhauseri.

Gymnocalycium saglionis

Big old Gymnocalycium saglionis coming into bud.

Gymnocalycium multiflorum x ritterianum

Gymnocalycium multiflorum x ritterianum coming into bud. Long spines and glossy body.

Also called G monvillei.

From Argentina.
